DICKINSON, N.D. -- Bismarck State College track & field delivered another strong championship performance Saturday and Sunday at the Frontier Conference Championships, piling up individual titles and relay wins as the Mystics continued a season defined by depth and sprint firepower. Following a winter indoor campaign that featured nine conference event wins, the Mystics topped that performance by collecting 12 event titles during the windy weekend at the Biesiot Activities Center.
The headline efforts came from Priviledge Bower and Cayden Kraft. Bower won the women's 100 meters in 11.58 and returned to claim the 200 title in 24.47, while Kraft swept the men's 200 and 400, posting winning times of 21.44 and 48.01, with Nathan Mathern finishing second in both events with a 21.49 and 48.57. Jakson Ensign added another title on the track with a victory in the men's 1500 in 4:00.77, with Connor Ensign coming in second by less than a second, giving the Mystics championship wins across the sprints and middle distances.
Bismarck State also made its mark in the field events. Alexia Anderson won the women's long jump at 5.77 meters and added a second-place 11.84-meter performance in the triple jump, where Kennedy Harter led the way with a winning mark of 12.18 meters. Harter also posted 5.71 meters, a runner-up mark in the long jump, underscoring the versatility that has helped the Mystics score in multiple areas throughout the season.
The relay groups reached a new level of dominance during the weekend. Connor Ensign, Djiby Diallo, Jakson Ensign and Xavier Bell led the way on Saturday as they won the men's 4x800-meter in a photo finish, winning by .02 seconds with a 7:48.84.
The women's 4x100-meter relay of Kaylea Kealoha, Mercedes Lura, Markita Wiggins and Priviledge Bower was the first relay on Sunday, winning in 47.35 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay for both women and men was the final event slated for the day, and it was worth the wait.
Aisha Zaffino, Aliya Schock, Brooklyn Fuller and Tsitsi Karanda ran their way to victory with a 3:52.62 second finish and the men's relay of Xavier Bell, Nathan Mathern, Timol Walters and Cayden Kraft won with a 3:18.50.
Daniel Oduse also earned All-Conference honors in the 100-meter dash as he finished in 10.20 seconds to reach third on the podium. More of the Mystics podium finishers and all-conference honorees include: Dedra Wood with her second-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, Jace Lovely with a third-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles, Aliya Schock with a third-place finish in the 400-meter, Macy Crane with a third-place finish in the 300-meter steeplechase, and Mercedes Lura with a second-place finish in the pole vault.
