Julia Hammerschmidt Named Head Coach of Bismarck State College Track and Field Team

Bismarck State College announces the appointment of Julia Hammerschmidt as the new Head Coach of the Bismarck State College Track and Field team. Hammerschmidt, who has been an integral part of the Mystics' coaching staff since September 2022, brings her experience as a collegiate track and field athlete along with her coaching experience to the forefront in her new role.

During her tenure as an assistant coach at BSC, Hammerschmidt specialized in coaching sprint and hurdle athletes, and assisted in recruiting efforts. Under her guidance, numerous athletes have qualified for both NJCAA Indoor and Outdoor National meets, showcasing the strength and potential of the team.

Hammerschmidt's own athletic career is highlighted with outstanding achievements. As a student-athlete at the University of Mary, she holds the school record for the 400-meter hurdles and was a member of the school record-holding 4x400 meter relay teams, both indoor and outdoor. Her athletic prowess earned her six NCAA All-American honors.

“Julia gives our program a leader who has experienced success both as an athlete and as a coach. We are excited for the Mystic Track and Field program moving forward and we continue to raise our sights to greater success,” said Myron Schulz, Athletic Director at Bismarck State College.
