DICKINSON, N.D. – Bismarck State women's wrestling battled No. 20-ranked Dickinson State on Tuesday night at Scott Gymnasium, falling 29-20 in a competitive dual that featured several strong individual performances and three Mystic pins.
BSC opened the night with an automatic win at 103, where Jennifer Verdin put the Mystics on the board with a forfeit victory. Dickinson State responded with momentum of their own, as Jenna Gerhardt defeated Hailyann Turner by technical fall at 110 and earned a forfeit victory at 117 to move in front.
The Mystics struck back in the middle weights. At 124, Rei Ogden delivered BSC's first contested win of the night, pinning Jazmine Turner in 2:31. Moments later at 131, Alexis Schneider kept the Mystics rolling with a dominant 1:04 fall over Makenzie Shaw to pull the Mystics ahead.
Dickinson State countered with a fall at 138, where Kaytlin McAnelly defeated Adrian Steidler just under the wire at 5:50 to flip the match and pull off the dramatic victory after trailing late. The Blue Hawks would then pick up forfeits at 145, 180, and 207 to pad their lead.
BSC collected one more impressive victory at 160, where Arionna Beatty wasted no time, earning a 43-second fall over Olivia Anderson—the fastest pin of the dual.
Despite BSC's three pins and a strong push through the middle of the lineup, the Blue Hawks secured the 29-20 final.
The Mystics fall to 2-1 on the season, and the Blue Hawks improve their record to 2-3.
BSC will have time to regroup as they head into the Holiday break, with their next action set one month from now on Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Eagle Women's Open hosted by Chadron State College in Chadron, Neb.
Their next action at the Armory won't be until Feb. 4, a day in which they welcome the Minot State Beavers for a 7 p.m. dual.
