Record Breaking Performance by Mystics at NJCAA National Championships

Bismarck State College's Mystics track and field team delivered an outstanding performance at the NJCAA Outdoor Nationals Track and Field Meet, achieving the program's best results since its inception three years ago. Eleven dedicated athletes represented Bismarck State College, contributing to a remarkable national ranking, with the team securing five All-American honors and placing in the top 20 across eight events.

Highlights of the Meet

Brynn Fuller - Women's Javelin

Brynn Fuller was a standout performer, earning All-American honors in the women's javelin. Entering the competition seeded seventh, she surpassed expectations by achieving a personal best and school record throw of 46.23 meters, securing 4th place.

Men's 4x400m Relay Team

The men's 4x400m relay team exemplified teamwork and resilience, earning All-American recognition. The team, comprising Nathan Mathern, Justin Zulu, Rajawn Davis, and Cayden Kraft, entered the meet seeded 19th. They shattered the school record in the prelims with a time of 3:10.55, qualifying for the finals. In a remarkable display, they further improved their time to 3:09.72, placing 7th and setting the fastest time across all divisions (NCAA D1, D2, D3, NAIA) in both North Dakota and South Dakota.

Rajawn Davis - Men's 400m Hurdles

Rajawn Davis delivered a commendable performance in the men's 400m hurdles. Initially seeded 12th, he broke his own school record with a time of 52.29 seconds in the prelims, narrowly missing the finals by a mere 0.09 seconds, finishing 9th.

Additional Notable Performances

  • Alexia Anderson competed in the women's triple jump, achieving an outdoor personal best and school record of 11.46 meters, placing 10th in the nation.

  • The women's 4x100m relay team, comprised of Priviledge Bower, Alexia Anderson, Aisha Zaffino, and Aliya Schock, ran a school record time of 47.21 seconds, placing 13th.

  • Dedra Wood set a school record in the women's 100m hurdles with a personal best of 14.55 seconds, finishing 14th.

  • Mya Sheldon threw in the women's javelin, placing 11th.

  • Nathan Mathern ran the men's 400m, achieving his second-fastest time of 47.08 seconds, placing 17th.

  • Priviledge Bower ran the women's 100m, placing 27th with her second-fastest time of 12.03 seconds.

  • Cayden Kraft ran the men's 400m, achieving his second-fastest outdoor time of 48.47 seconds.

The Mystics track and field program is immensely proud of its athletes and their historic achievements at the NJCAA Outdoor Nationals. The team's dedication, talent, and sportsmanship have set a high standard for future competitions.
