NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — Bismarck State College rodeo delivered a championship performance in both rodeos at the Mid-Plains Community College Stampede, highlighted by a men's team title and two all-around crowns in a weekend that featured standout showings from both squads.
The Mystics opened the first of two rodeos in North Platte with the men's team capturing first place overall and the women's team finishing third. Freshman cowboy Kale Hansen claimed the men's all-around title behind a dominant weekend in the timed events, while Addison Salverson was named the women's all-around champion after scoring across three disciplines.
BSC proved deep across the board in Rodeo No. 1. Hansen took the top spot in steer wrestling and added an eighth-place finish in team roping, while also helping his teammates in a sweep of the tie-down podium. Weston Klatt won the event, Hansen placed second, Cael Hilzendeger took third and Grady Larson came in seventh. In the roughstock arena, Trevor Andrews and Elijah Ramos went 2-3 in bareback riding, while Ty Brenna powered to a runner-up finish in saddle bronc.
On the women's side, Salverson finished sixth in barrel racing, eighth in goat tying and added another top-10 in breakaway roping. Chesney Gjermundson placed third in breakaway, while Megan Malone rode to eighth in barrel racing.
Rodeo No. 2 saw different team results — the Mystic men placed fifth and the women seventh — but several athletes stayed hot. Ramos and Andrews again scored in bareback riding, taking second and fourth, while Brenna earned another saddle bronc placing in fourth. Tyler Hansen captured the tie-down title with a first-place finish, and freshman Aspen Dunford notched a breakthrough win in breakaway roping. Cale Redlin also made noise with a second-place run in goat tying, while Salverson added a ninth-place finish.
