MINOT, N.D. – It might still be weeks before the Bismarck State College Mystics women's sotball tem gets outside, but the team opened the 2023 season nonetheless with a pair of games indoors in Minot.
The Mystics dropped both games on Saturday, 9-2 to North Dakota State College of Science and 12-4 to Miles Community College.
Sophomore Brooklyn Benno started and took the loss in the season opener against Miles Community College. She went 3.2 innings and gave up 11 hits while striking out five. Freshman Julie Dysart worked in relief after starting and taking the loss against NDSCS. The Wildcats exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning to take control.
BSC freshman shortstop Dominique Baker had two hits, drove in a run and scored a run in her first college game. Freshman second baseman Jessenia Young had a hit a scored a run and freshman designated hitter Logan Brown added a hit and drove in a run.
Against Miles, Brown added a double and drove in a run and sophomore Cambrie Pretzer had a hit and an RBI. Benno and freshman Sydney Amerman had a hit and scored a run.
The Mystics take on Dawson Community College and Lake Region State College today in Minot.
