TUSCON, Ariz. – Bismarck State College swept a doubleheader from Anoka-Ramsey Community College on Thursday to run its men's baseball record to 7-0 on the season.
BSC won the first game 6-2 and rolled to an 18-0 win in the second game, which was stopped after five innings. The Mystics have outscored their opponents 86-15. They take on Abbotsford Cardinals – which they have already beaten twice – and Pima Community College on Friday before ending their stay in Arizona against Carleton (Minn.) College JV on Saturday.
BSC scored four runs in the first inning and two in the sixth of the opener on Thursday. Wyatt Tweet was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs batted in. Carson Zimmel had two hits and JJ Ritter had a triple and drive in two runs. Scott Seim went five innings, striking out four and giving up just one hit to get the win. Nik Bantle finished up.
The Mystics used a nine-run second and an eight-run fourth in routing the Ram in the second game. Tweet continued huis torrid hitting with two hits, including a triple, drove in two runs and scored two. Jordan Tucker had two doubles and drove in three runs and Carson Zimmel and Griffin Staahl homered. Zimmel, Staahl and Andrew Nievas drove in three runs apiece, making a winner of Darion Alexander, who went the distance and gave up two hits.
