GLENDIVE, Mont. – Bismarck State's Logan Brown blasted a three-run homer in the first inning on Thursday, but Williston State rallied late in the game to beat the Mystics 9-7 in the opening round of the NJCAA Division II Region XIII women's softball tournament.
BSC (10-26) puts it all on the line on Friday as it plays a loser-out game in the afternoon.
BSC led the Tetons 5-1 after three innings behind Brooklyn Benno. But WSC scored five times in the fourth to go up 6-5, then added another run in the fifth and two in the sixth. Its top four batters had two hits apiece.
Brown had the big blow for BSC, launching a shot on a 3-0 pitch that plated herself, Gracie Gunderson and Sydney Gustavsson. Gunderson and Kassie Pachak banged out two hits each. Hannah Fischer's double was one of nine BSC hits on the day. She also scored twice.
