In a display of resiliency, the Bismarck State College Mystics baseball team bounced back from a challenging start in the NJCAA Region XIII tournament to secure a victory against Miles Community College, eliminating the top seed in the tournament and keeping their season alive.
The tournament kicked off with a tough match for the Mystics, facing off against Dakota County Technical College. Despite their best efforts, Dakota County Technical College overpowered the Mystics in an 18-1 game, making every game going forward in the tournament a win or go home situation.
In a critical loser-out game against Miles Community College, the Mystics needed to fight to the final out to clinch a 7-6 victory. Key performances came from several players who stepped up when it mattered most. Wyatt Tweet had an impact at the plate, going 3-4 driving in a run. Andrew Naives made significant contributions as well, going 1-3 and driving in three runs. Jared Bendfeld added to the excitement with a 1-3 performance, including a home run, driving in a run, and scoring twice.
On the mound, Kayden Camacho pitching six innings and laying the groundwork for the win. Mason Lunzman took over for 2.2 innings, delivering for the Mystics by allowing only a single run. Eli Nyhammer was brought in to secure the final out of the game, earning a save and sealing the victory for the Mystics.
