BISMARCK, N.D. – Bismarck State College volleyball showed determination in front of a strong home crowd Friday night, but nationally ranked Carroll College (Mont.) proved too strong, defeating the Mystics 3–0 (25–19, 25–14, 25–20) at the BSC Armory.

The Mystics (2–13, 0–10) traded points early in the first set before Carroll's offense settled in, finishing with a .243 hitting percentage compared to BSC's .082. Despite the sweep, BSC battled at the net and showed defensive growth with 49 digs and eight team blocks.

Junior Chelsa Krom led the Mystics' attack with four kills on .286 hitting, while Dedra Wood added five kills and two block assists. Reese Duchsherer chipped in seven kills and six digs, and Summer Thomas provided a spark off the bench with three kills and four block assists.

Defensively, libero Piper Harris anchored the back row with a team-high 16 digs, and setter Delaney Deschamp guided the offense with 15 assists and an ace.

Carroll's balanced offense was paced by Sidney Gulick with 13 kills and Elizabeth Heuiser with 10, while setters Lauren Fox and Jansyn Carrizales combined for 38 assists to help the Saints improve to 12–6 on the season and extend their winning streak to five.

The Mystics will look to rebound Saturday, Oct. 4, as they welcome Rocky Mountain (Mont.) to the Armory. The Battlin' Bears currently sit at 1-14 and 0-10 in the Frontier as they fell to Dickinson State, 3-1, on Friday night. First serve is set for 3 p.m. as one of the teams will leave the match with their first Frontier Conference victory.
