BUTTE, Mont. – Bismarck State men's basketball closed their road trip against the No. 20-ranked Montana Tech Orediggers on Saturday night. The Mystics jumped in front early, but ultimately fell 98-70.
The Mystics fired out of the gate, looking to remove any thoughts of the previous night's matchup, as they got out to a 16-8 lead heading into the first media timeout.
But, it was another night of running into hot-shooting teams as BSC had little answer to stop the barrage from the Orediggers. MT responded to build a 46-28 lead in the first half, shooting an even 50 percent and holding the Mystics to 30 percent to close out the half.
BSC bounced back in the second half to score 42, but the effort wasn't enough to overcome the deficit, alongside the added output from Montana Tech, who shot 58 percent from the field in the half.
The Mystics recorded four players in double figures, led by
Jah Gulley with 16 and followed by
Houston Davis with 15, to go along with 11 rebounds to give him his eighth double-double of the season.
Alex Proctor and
Carter Zeller each put up 14 to round out those in double-digits.
BSC falls to 1-17 in Frontier Conference play and sits four games out of the final playoff spot with four games remaining.
The Mystics now enter their final home stand of the season, which includes the final basketball games played at the BSC Armory before the completion of the Bavendick Center. They welcome Mayville State (7-18, 3-15) on Friday, Feb. 13, and Valley City State (9-14, 5-13) on Saturday, Feb. 14. Tip-off on each night is set for 7 p.m.
