Softball falls in home doubleheader against Blue Hawks

Grace Grimm tallies six hits on afternoon.

BISMARCK, N.D. -- Bismarck State softball returned to Scheels Field in Cottonwood Park for the first time in 2026, in their first home action in Bismarck since March 20. They welcomed 14-4 Frontier Conference front-runner, Dickinson State (N.D.), who proved their status by taking both games on Wednesday afternoon, 9-5 and 12-5.

GAME ONE

The Blue Hawks got what they needed early off Mystic starter Brielle Wrangham, as they scored seven runs in the first three innings, including four in the first. Wrangham went six innings in game one and allowed five earned on 12 hits and just one walk.

The Mystics were consistent at the plate over the first five innings, scoring one run in each frame, highlighted by two Grace Grimm RBI singles and a Lexi Wesson home run to left field.

DSU added insurance runs in the sixth and seventh innings, and BSC couldn't capitalize on their chances, leaving 13 on base.

GAME TWO

The Mystics struck first in game two, as Lexi Wesson continued her hot day at the plate with a double off the right-center fence to score Taylor Falcon. Dickinson State responded with four runs in the ensuing half-inning, and another in the fifth, but BSC starter Kya Kulzer kept the Mystics within striking distance heading into the bottom of the fifth.

Grace Grimm collected her sixth hit of the afternoon to drive in one, and it was Jordyn Marcoux delivering the hit of the afternoon for the Mystics with a three-run game-tying blast to right-center field.

The Blue Hawks quickly responded to temper the BSC momentum, before piling on to the tune of seven runs in the top of the sixth to put the game out of reach and secure their 28th victory of the year.

UP NEXT

The Mystics welcome Bellevue (Neb.) to Bismarck for a four-game series, now scheduled to start on Sunday, April 19, at 1 p.m. The Bruins currently sit just one spot ahead of BSC in the Frontier Conference standings at 9-9.
