Volleyball splits opening day at Siouxland Invitational

Duchsherer, Hogan lead BSC past Haskell before Dordt hands Mystics first loss of 2026.

NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. -- Bismarck State volleyball opened its 2026 season with a straight-set victory over Haskell (Kan.) on Friday morning, kicking off the Siouxland Invitational with a 25-21, 25-10, 25-21 win at the CNOS Fieldhouse. Perfectly balanced as all things should be, they end their day 1-1 with a 3-3 record in sets played after dropping their second match of the day to Dordt (Iowa) 0-3.

GAME ONE vs HASKELL (Kan.)

Bismarck State (3)    25    25    25

The Mystics recorded their first win of the season in dominant fashion, hitting .245 as a team compared to Haskell's .031 clip. BSC out-killed the Braves 45-21 and out-dug them 53-34 in the win. They wasted little time finding their footing, closing out the first set behind a balanced attack before pulling away for a lopsided 25-10 second-set win. Haskell battled back to make the third set competitive, but BSC closed it out to complete the sweep.
