Kyle Kuether

Kyle Kuether is currently in his sixth season as head coach.

Mystic alumni Kyle Kuether was named head volleyball coach at Bismarck State in spring of 2020. Kuether lead the Mystics to a 17-4 season and a region championship runner-up in his first season. The Mystics have won the Mon-Dak Conference championship the last four years (2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024); going 44-4 in conference in the four year span. Kuether also led BSC to a Region XIII and Northwest Plains District championship in 2022 as well as the Region XIII title in 2024. Kuether was named Mon-Dak Coach of the Year in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. He was also named Region XIII Coach of the Year in 2022 and 2024 and Northwest District Coach of the Year in 2022.

Kuether, now entering his sixth season with the Mystics with a 119-33 overall record and 59-7 conference record. Before coaching at Bismarck State, Kuether was an assistant coach at Fargo North High School in 2009. After moving back to Bismarck Kuether started coaching at St. Mary’s High School as an assistant coach for 5 years before becoming head coach in 2015. Kuether also is heavily involved with the youth programs in Bismarck as the director for Green Wave Volleyball Club. 

"Bismarck State is a great place to work and coach. The level of support from the community is second to none. The culture of volleyball along with the supportive community and the athletes we have makes coaching fun and rewarding," Kuether said. "The lessons and values I learned while attending BSC as a student are things I hope to pass on to our student-athletes."

Kuether graduated from BSC in 2008 and North Dakota State University in 2010 with a degree in Sports Management. Kuether and his wife, Kelli, have three kids, Harper (11), Lincoln (9) and Niklynn (5), who love being around the gym and coming to the matches.
