TUCSON, Ariz. – For the second straight day on Friday, Bismarck State fell behind early and never managed to catch up as Pima Community College defeated the Mystics 92-72 in a men's basketball game at the Aztec Classic.
The homestanding Aztecs shot 59 percent in the first half, including an 8-for-15 effort on 3-pointers, and raced out to a 49-28 lead at the half. BSC shot 56 percent in the second half but that only matched the Aztecs.
Deonte Martinez again led the Mystics in scoring with 21 points and three assists. Jaden Hamilton posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Tobias Patton netted 10 points. Pima's Jaylen Alexander had 18 points and 10 boards and Dillan Baker and Mike Pope added 17 points apiece.
The Mystics' close out their Arizona swing Saturday morning against Chandler-Gilbert Community College. They return after that to play at home Jan. 8 against Northwest College.
