BISMARCK, N.D. – Bismarck State College took control late in the first half and coasted to an 84-55 women's basketball victory over United Tribes Technical College in its final home game of the Mon-Dak Conference season Monday at the Armory.
It was a one-possession game with seven minutes left in the half. But by halftime, the Mystics (11-6 Mon-Dak, 14-9 overall) had built a 50-31 lead and the Thunderbirds (4-13 Mon-Dak, 6-16 overall) didn't mount much of a challenge in the second half.
Sydney Gustavsson and Ashton Kinnebrew were double trouble, combining for 63 of the Mystics' 84 points. They combined to score nine of BSC's 10 3-pointers.
Gustvasson was 12-for-18 from the field, including 4-for-6 on 3-pointers on her way to 33 points. It was the third time in her last seven games that the conference's second-leading scorer eclipsed 30 points. Her career high is 34 points.
Kinnebrew was equally impressive with 28 points. She drained five 3-pointers helping the BSC win for the fifth time in its last six games. The Mystics will be on the road for the last four regular season games.
