BISMARCK, N.D. – Bismarck State College is 4-for-4 against Lake Region State College this season after Wednesday's 69-65 Region XIII men's basketball quarterfinal win over the Royals at the Armory.

The Mystics (12-16) made the plays down the stretch to earn a semifinal berth against Dawson Community College at the region final four Saturday at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton. Lake Region ends the season with a 3-28 record.

Anthony Bertucci scored a team-high 18 points for the Mystics with all of his point coming via 3-pointers. He was 5-for-8 from long range and BSC as a team made 10 of 22 shots from behind the arc. Deonte Martinez added 13 points, five rebounds and eight assists, and four other Mystics scored eight points apiece. 

BSC had won three previous matchups with the Royals 83-80 in overtime at home; 79-61 at home; and 75-72 on Sunday in Devils Lake.

This one was tight throughout with BSC taking a 39-38 halftime lead when Martinez banked home. Long 3-pointer as the clocked ran out to end the first half. The Royals grabbed their final lead of the game when Ja'vion Byers drained a 3-pointer for a 60-59 lead. BSC scored six seconds later on a fast break and took the lead for good. It stretched the lead to 68-62 with 8.7 seconds remaining.

Byers led the Royals with a game-high 21 points.
