TUSCON, Ariz. – As a designated hitter on Tuesday, Bismarck State College freshman Wyatt Tweet was in the lineup to hit. And hit he did … again.
The Canadian from Russell, Manitoba, went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and two runs batted in as the Mystics beat Concordia (Wis.) University JV 8-3 to run their winning streak at the start of the season to five games.
BSC banged out 11 hits against a trio of Concordia pitchers. As a team, it has pounded out 56 hits – 25 of those extra base hits – in five games. Andrew Niaves had a double and Carson Zimmel a triple on Tuesday.
Jordan Tucker and JJ Ritter had two hits and scored two runs apiece, helping make a winner of starter Kyle Odenbach, who gave up two hits and struck out five in four innings. Stetson Kuntz and Aaron Breitbach combined for three scoreless innings.
After a day off, BSC plays a doubleheader against Anoka-Ramsey Community College on Thursday.
