GLENDIVE, Mont. – Due to wet and snowy field conditions in Bismarck, Montana has become the Bismarck State College baseball team's home away from home for the time being. On Friday, the Mystics improved to 14-4 with a doubleheader sweep of Dawson Community College.
Catcher Wyatt Tweet homered twice, scored three runs and drove in three as the Mystics outlasted the Buccaneers 9-8 in the second game after winning the opener 11-1 behind the two-hit pitching of Mitch Sand.
Tweet wasn't the only offensive standout in the nightcap. First baseman Aaron Breitbach launched his first career homer, scored twice and drove in two runs. Nick Bantle won in relief despite allowing four runs in the seventh. He got the final out with on a comebacker with the tying run on second.
Carson Zimmel homered in support of Sand in the opener, a game in which every BSC starter scored at least one run. Zimmel drove in two runs and scored twice. Jordan Tucker scored twice and Tweet drove in two and scored one run
The Mystics (7-3 MonDak, 14-4 overall) play a twinbill on Saturday against Williston State College.
