GLENDIVE, Mont. – Williston State College downed Bismarck State 13-6 and 5-4 on Saturday to earn a MonDak Conference softball doubleheader sweep over the Mystics.
The Tetons broke a 4-4 tie in the opener with a run in the sixth inning to eke out a win. Brooklyn Benno was the hard-luck loser, scattering nine hits and striking out six. Malee Wittenberg banged out three hits, including a homer and double, scored twice and drove in three runs for the Mystics. Sydney Gustavsson, who had a double, and Halle Mattern also scored.
Gustavsson and Wittenberg supplied most of the offense from the top of the order in game two as well. Gustavsson was 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored and three runs batted in. Wittenberg was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Julie Dysart took the loss for BSC.
The Mystics play Dakota College at Bottineau on Monday in Glendive. A decision on future game sites will be made at a later date.
