GLENDIVE, Mont. – Sydney Gustavsson homered twice and drove in seven runs on Monday as Bismarck State College beat Dakota College at Bottineau 19-3 in the first game of a MonDak Conference women's softball doubleheader.
Malee Wittenberg drove in six runs in the nightcap as the Mystics finished off the sweep with an 18-9 win over the Lumberjacks. The Mystics, who have yet to play a home game, next play Miles Community College Thursday in Miles City, Mont.
The Mystics took batting practice, pounding out 17 hits in the opener. Dominique Baker was 3-for-4 with a triple and four runs scored. Gustavsson belted a grand slam homer in the third inning, one of her three hits in the game, a Gracie Gunderson went 4-for-4 with a triple and a homer and four runs scored. Brooklyn Benno gave up just five hits.
Wittenberg homered in the first game but she was just getting started. She had a grand slam in the second inning to help make a winner of Julie Dysart., who gave up seven hits. Wittenberg, Gustavsson and Gunderson scored three runs each. Haley Gereau had three hits, including a homer and double and scored three times.
