Mystics win one, lose one against Lumberjacks

MILES CITY, Mont. – Brooklyn Benno tossed a two-hitter on Monday as Bismarck State College beat Dakota College at Bottineau 9-1 to earn a split of a MonDak Conference women's softball doubleheader. The Lumberjacks won the second game 13-6.

Malee Wittenberg had two hits, including a home run and drove in two runs, while Haley Gereau homered. Sydney Gustavsson had two hits and scored twice and Gracie Gunderson also had two hits. The Mystics had 13 hits.

BSC (5-11 MonDak, 7-20 overall) collected nine hits in the second game, led by Wittenberg's three hits and two runs scored. Gunderson had two hits and drove in two runs and Dominique Baker had two hits and two runs.

The Mystics will play their long-awaited home opener April 26 against Miles Community College at Haaland Field in Bismarck. They go back to Glendive, Mont., to play Dawson Community College on April 27 and to Wahpeton to play North Dakota State College of Science on April 29. They return home to meet Williston State College on April 30.
