GLENDIVE, Mont. – Bismarck State College rode a seven-run first inning to a 10-3 win over Dawson Community College on Thursday. But the Buccaneers came back to earn a split of their MonDak Conference baseball doubleheader with a 7-6 win in the second game.
The first seven batters of the game scored for BSC thanks to four walks, three hits and a strikeout that led to a base runner. Griffin Staahl drove in two runs and Brenna Phillips drove in another. Jordan Tucker had a two-run homer and JJ Ritter doubled and scored two runs.
Aaron Breitbach and Carson Zimmel drove in two runs apiece in the second game. It was tied 4-4 in the third before the Buccaneers took the lead and held off BSC in the sixth despite Wyatt Tweet's two-run single. Kyle Odenbach took the loss in relief.
The Mystics play North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton on April 29 and return home to meet Williston State College in their regular season finale on April 30.
