WAHPETON, N.D. – Bismarck State College leadoff batter Jordan Tucker led off Saturday's MonDak Conference baseball doubleheader against North Dakota State College of Science with a home run and the Mystics were never challenged in sweeping the Wildcats 10-2 and 13-1.
Tucker launched a 1-1 pitch over the wall in a two-run first inning and Carson Zimmel led off a five-run second with a home run that made a winner of starter Stetson Kuntz. JJ Ritter had two hits and scored two runs, Ryan Tweet drove in a run and scored a run and Zimmel added a double and scored twice. Kuntz gave up just three hits, one of then a home run.
Aaron Breitbach went the distance in the second game, allowing just three hits and striking out seven in five innings. He got support from Tucker, who doubled and singled twice, drove in a run and scored three times. Zimmel homered twice and doubled and scored two runs, Ritter homered in the first inning and scored twice and Brennan Phillips homered. Jack Maznio scored twice.
The Mystics (17-5 MonDak, 26-6 overall) close out the regular season with a doubleheader against Williston State College on Sunday. Game times are 1 and 3 p.m. at Haaland Field.
