BISMARCK – Despite playing with three of their leading hitters sidelined with a various injuries, Bismarck State College closed out the women's softball regular season on Sunday with its second doubleheader sweep of the season at Cottonwood Field.
Mystic pitchers Brooklyn Benno and Julie Dysart scattered 13 hits over two games in 11-3 and 5-2 wins over the Tetons. Their teammates supplied more than enough offense to offset the absence of Malee Wittenberg (.469), Halle Mattern (.407) and Sydney Gustavsson (.402).
Right-fielder Hannah Fischer was the hitting start for BSC. In two games, she went 5-for-8 with a double, 2 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Second-baseman Cambrie Pretzer banged out four hits, including a triple and left-fielder Gracie Gunderson scored three runs. Benno gave up seven hits in an 11-3 win, while Dysart yielded six hits in a 5-2 win.
Next up for the Mystics (7-17 MonDak, 9-26 overall) is the Region XIII tournament later this week.
