The Bismarck State College Mystics volleyball team showcased their resilience and competitive spirit as they concluded a day of intense matches at the DMACC Invitational with an overall record of 1-1.
In the opening match of the day, the Mystics encountered a challenging opponent in Iowa Central Community College, succumbing to a 0-3 loss. This marks only the second defeat of the season for BSC. The game scores were 17-25, 14-25, and 16-25, with Reese Duchsherer leading the team with six kills. Maya Vibeto made significant contributions with an impressive 30 digs, while Kate Zimmer added 12 assists to the team's effort.
Bouncing back from the morning's setback, the Mystics delivered a thrilling performance against Lincoln Land Community College, securing a hard-fought 3-2 victory, with game scores of 25-19, 22-25, 17-25, 25-11, and 15-12. Reese Duchsherer was pivotal with a standout performance, recording 16 kills and 13 assists. Chelsa Krom also shone with 12 kills and played a crucial role in five blocks, including two solo efforts and three assisted blocks. Caton Pearcy contributed with 11 kills and 19 digs, while Kate Zimmer commanded the offense with 31 assists, three service aces, and 13 digs.
The Mystics overall record is 18-2, and they are 8-0 in conference.
The Mystics continue in the DMACC Invitational with two games on October 5.
