MADISON, S.D. — (RV) Dakota State (S.D.) proved why they're receiving national attention Friday night, sweeping Bismarck State College 25-13, 25-7, 25-20 at the DSU Fieldhouse.

The Mystics (3-14, 1-11 Frontier) found rhythm late in the third set but couldn't overcome DSU's balanced offense, which hit .358 as a team and featured five players with eight or more kills. The Trojans (12-6, 8-5 Frontier) controlled the pace behind efficient attacking from Macey Wathen (.688, 11 kills) and Halle Bruflat (.400, 12 kills), while setter Maddi Langerock dished 27 assists and added nine digs. Tristyn Maras chipped in 10 kills, and Lauryn Kloth led all players with six block assists.

For Bismarck State, Chelsa Krom again paced the offense, hitting .400 with six kills and two aces, totaling nine points. Reese Duchsherer matched her with six kills, while Paige McAllister added five kills and two block assists. Hannah Thiel distributed eight assists, and libero Piper Harris anchored the back row with eight digs.

Dakota State jumped out to a 25-13 win in the opening set and dominated 25-7 in the second behind a .536 attack percentage. Bismarck State responded with energy in the third, hitting .216 and trading points midway through before DSU closed on a 6-2 run to seal the match.

The Mystics will have a quick turnaround as they to look to avenge the loss when they face No 8. Bellevue (Neb.) on Saturday, Oct. 11. First serve is set for 1 p.m. from Bellevue, Neb.
