Mystics swept by Orediggers in Frontier Conference play

Strong Montana Tech attack too much for Mystics to overcome.

BISMARCK, N.D. – (RV) Montana Tech hit a scorching .380 as a team to sweep Bismarck State College 3–0 (25–14, 25–14, 25–21) inside the BSC Armory on Saturday afternoon.

The Mystics (4–17 overall, 2–14 Frontier) came alive late, pushing the Orediggers (13–9, 9–7) to the brink in the final frame, but Montana Tech's offensive balance and efficiency proved too much to overcome. The visitors committed just seven hitting errors on 92 swings while holding BSC to .160 hitting overall.

Balanced Attack for Montana Tech

The Orediggers spread the offense around with five players recording at least four kills. Madison Biery and Kinnidi Willmore led the way with nine kills apiece, while Kennedy Oman added eight on .500 hitting. Setter Rhys Layton directed the attack with 18 assists and two service aces, and libero Brooklynn Hayes anchored the back row with a team-high 14 digs. Montana Tech also tallied 11 aces as a team, including two each from Hayes, Jette, and Layton.

Mystics Battle in Third Set

Bismarck State found rhythm late in the match, hitting .364 in the third set behind the strong play of junior Chelsa Krom, who led all hitters with 10 kills while hitting .474. Reese Duchsherer added seven kills and Summer Thomas chipped in six. Setter Delaney Deschamp handed out 27 assists and libero Piper Harris collected 11 digs to pace the defense.

Despite the loss, the Mystics showed grit in the third frame, overcoming multiple deficits to tie the score nine times before Montana Tech closed out the match with a 4–0 run.
