Mystics Can't Match Hot Rocky Shooting in Final Game Before Break

Battlin' Bears drain 22 threes as BSC wraps up Frontier road trip in Billings.

BILLINGS, Mont. – Bismarck State men's basketball closed out its Frontier Conference road trip on Saturday night with a 91-50 loss at Rocky Mountain (Mont.) inside the Fortin Education Center.

Rocky Mountain (8-2, 5-2 Frontier) set the tone early behind a blistering shooting performance from beyond the arc, knocking down 14 three-pointers in the first half and building a 49-25 lead at the break. The Battlin' Bears finished the night 22-for-49 (44.9%) from three-point range and placed six players in double figures, using ball movement and perimeter shooting to steadily extend the margin.

Bismarck State (0-11, 0-7) was led by Junior forward Houston Davis, who posted a double-double with a team-high 17 points and a game-high 16 rebounds while shooting a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. Tristin Davis added 10 points, while Kamayua Black Jr. chipped in eight points off the bench.

The Mystics battled on the glass, finishing even with Rocky at 40 rebounds apiece, but struggled to find a rhythm offensively. BSC shot 29.1% from the field and 19.0% from three for the game, with the Battlin' Bears' defensive pressure forcing 18 turnovers that turned into 17 points on the other end.

Rocky was paced by Omari Nesbit, who poured in a game-high 26 points on 8-for-15 shooting from deep, while Kyle Jones and Drew Bowman each added 12 points off the bench. The Battlin' Bears also held a 44-8 advantage in bench scoring and pushed the lead to as many as 42 points in the second half.

The Mystics will look to turn the season around as they break for the Holiday, returning to Bismarck in 16 days to host Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) on Monday, Dec. 29, at 6 p.m. That game will be played at Bismarck High School.

BSC will close the month with a Dec. 31 crosstown trip to face UMary (N.D.), and will return to the Armory on Friday, Jan. 2, at 7 p.m. to host Montana Tech.
