BUTTE, Mont. – Bismarck State College dropped a road contest to 21st-ranked Montana Tech on Friday night, falling in straight sets (25-10, 25-14, 25-13) at Valley Bank Arena.
The Mystics (2-6, 0-4) faced a tough Oredigger squad that entered the match with momentum at 8-2 overall and 4-0 in the Frontier Conference. Montana Tech used a strong service game and a balanced attack to control the match from start to finish.
BSC struggled to find rhythm offensively, finishing with 22 kills but hitting -.022 as a team. Summer Thomas led the Mystics with four kills and added a solo block, while Paige McAllister chipped in four kills on a .286 hitting percentage. Reese Duchsherer added four kills, and Kate Zimmer handed out a team-high eight assists. Piper Harris anchored the defense with nine digs.
Montana Tech's serving proved decisive, as the Orediggers collected 16 aces without allowing one. Talan Dodson paced Tech with eight kills, while Abby Clark added six kills at a .500 clip. Setter Ellie Reinertson directed the offense with 11 assists and served up five aces.
