DILLON, Mont. — Bismarck State College pushed late but came up short in a 3-0 loss to (RV) Montana Western in Frontier Conference play on Saturday afternoon. The Mystics dropped the match by set scores of 25-17, 25-17, 25-21.
Reese Duchsherer led BSC with nine kills and added two service aces, two block assists and eight digs for 12 points. Middle hitter Chelsa Krom chipped in six kills and three block assists, while setter Kate Zimmer tallied 23 assists and nine digs to go along with three kills on .600 hitting.
Bismarck State (2-7, 0-5) struggled with offensive consistency, finishing with a .090 hitting percentage. The Mystics' best stretch came in the third set, where they hit .143 and pushed the Bulldogs before falling 25-21.
Montana Western (6-6, 4-1) spread its offense with five players recording at least seven kills. Jaiden Perez paced the Bulldogs with eight kills and five block assists, while Maxine Hoagland added eight kills on .583 hitting. The team hit .298 overall and posted eight team blocks.
The Mystics return home next weekend as they #5 Providence (Mont.) (12-1,5-0) on Friday at 6 p.m. for 'Light up the Armory' Night. They'll then turn around to host Montana State University-Northern (5-6, 3-2) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
