DILLON, Mont. – Bismarck State men's basketball began their final Montana road trip against Montana Western on Friday Night in Dillon. It was one to forget for the Mystics as they suffered their largest defeat of the year in the 110-65 loss.
The Mystics got off to a competitive start, down just nine points at 18-11, nearing the halfway point of the first half. Montana Western exploded over the next 11 minutes, scoring 33 points to take a 51-26 lead into halftime.
The Bulldogs one-upped themselves in the second half, scoring 59 points over the final 20 minutes to clinch the decisive victory. They shot 18-of-37 from beyond the arc and over 60 percent from the field in an impressive offensive showing.
BSC shot a respectable 41 percent from the field and racked up 40 points in the paint.
The Mystics were led in scoring by
Houston Davis with 18 points and six rebounds on 6-of-11 shooting (2-of-2 3PT), followed by
Carter Zeller with 14 and
Jah Gulley with 13.
Following Friday's game, the team heads to Butte, Mont., to take on the No. 20-ranked Montana Tech Orediggers (17-6, 11-6), who defeated Dickinson State (N.D.) in a low-scoring affair on Friday evening, 67-48. Gametime is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT (7 p.m. MT).
